Lana's 1st day of Kindergarten!

So today was the BIG day! Lana went to kindergarten for the very first time. The picture below is of her all dressed and ready to go. But don't worry I took a bunch of photos from when she woke up so stay tuned for how her morning went.

This picture Lana was still half asleep.  I told her she had to eat a good breakfast so she could learn lots of stuff. For breakfast she had chocolate milk (her favorite) cinnamon toast and strawberries and cream oatmeal. Look at her HAIR! this is what it normally looks like when she gets up. Since it is so curly it often looks like a giant FRIZZ ball!.
Below are pictures of her 1st school lunch I packed.  Of course I had to include a cute little note to surprise her on her 1st day. Her lunch included fruit punch powerade, a ham, cheese and mustard sandwhich, grapes, string cheese, and a chocolate chip cookie.

Lana picked out her lunch box. She wanted little mermaid but we couldn't find a little mermaid one so her next choice was this princess lunch box.

She also picked out her backback. Purple, blue and pink with little flowers on it.

Here she is again ready to go to school.

Here Lana is in front of her school about to head in and begin her 1st day.

Here is Lana waiting in the cafeteria waiting for her teacher to come and get her to take them to the classroom. Each teacher has a table with their name on it so the kids know which class is theirs.

By this time Lana was getting a little annoyed with me taking pictures. Here she is sitting at her desk. When we picked her up this afternoon she was a little quiet but by the time we got home she was beginning to tell us about her day. She said they sang some songs and painted an elephant to hang in the classroom. She said she painted hers PINK. I asked her who she sat with at lunch and she said a bunch of boys. She said there were too many boys in her class. LOL

Crayon Crafts

My brothers little girl spent the weekend with us. As normal when she spends the night unwanted to have some fun activities planned. Thanks to my friend Misty and Pinterest app i found the perfect project! CRAYON CANVAS ART. This project came at the perfect time too because all supplies were on sale for back to school. Crayons were $.39 per 24 count box and 2 pack canvas was only $3.99 so Lana and Sophia had a fun project for less than $3 each. AWESOME!

Here is what you need:
Canvas any size
Crayons
Blow dryer or heat tool
Hot glue

First: hot glue crayons onto top of canvas(we took out brown, black and white)

Lana was not in a good mood at this point in the process(look at her cute little mad face )

Sophia glued her crayons first. Then it was Lana's turn(note her happy face)

Next: melt crayons put heat source SUPER close to the crayons.

Note: if using a hair dryer it sprays almost everywhere so put lots of newspaper down.

The finished products:

Lanas was made with the hair dryer

Sophias was made with the heat tool. The heat tool made the crayons drip straight down while the hair dryer blows the colors around.

Craft number 2
MELTED CRAYON DISKS
Lana and Sophia wanted to make another project. (i think only because they wanted to use the heat tool to melt stuff.

We took the wrappers of all the remaining crayons and chopped them up.

Then they mixed colors together and put them in mini muffin tins.

Then the heat tool melting began.

We then put in the freezer for about 30 min. They popped out super easy.

Happy crayon crafting!

Meet the teacher

Thursday night we went to meet the teacher at Lanas school. I can't believe she is already starting Kindergarten on Monday. Lana and I decided to take her teacher a small gift.

So I made a quick fun little card. When hobby lobby had their plain cards on 1/2 off I stocked up with many colors both the cards and envelopes so I wouldnt have to create a card from scratch with envelope everytime. I chose a brown base card for this one and cut papers of my choosing. I chose an alphabet paper, and a paper that looked like notebook paper. On top is a teacher anya by the greeting farm. My sister colored the little girl while we were at our scrapbook retreat using her copic markers.

Combined between the 2 of us we have over 40 of these cute little girls and other stamps from the greeting farm. Mary LOVES to color these using  her markers, I'm not into coloring so much so I usually let her color everything I need. (hehe) So stay tuned for more blogs with these cute little stamps. Mary had also colored some of these onto shrinky dink paper and they turned into CUTE little charms you can use to embelish almost anything.

The inside said looking forward to a wonderful year. Then to go with it we bought a gourmet Carmel apple. I had planned on making some but I only needed one and Lana that day was in no mood to make any so we just bought one.

In the end we ended up with small cute little gift. Which her teacher loved.

Back to school frames

Lana is having her daycare "graduation" party Friday. There are 5 kids leaving and heading towards new adventures as they begin kindergarten. Since Lana goes to an in-home daycare the parents and sitter are putting together a little party. As part of the party favors I made these cute little frames for each child. They are cute and super easy. First I gathered the supplies.

Apples are wood and pre painted from hobby lobby. Frames I found at michaels for $1 each. Paper came from a school paper pack I got at the scrapbook convention.

I simply used scrapbook stickers for the names and went over the entire apple with modge podge to make them smooth and shiny.

I didn't take pics of the frame process but I just traced around the frames onto the paper and cut it out then applied it with the modge on both sides. Then allowed to dry for a couple hours.

Then I hot glued the apples to the frames. I was going to paint the edges with either red or green paint but I forgot it at the store and when I got home and remembered Lana was NOT in the mood to get back out. So I may add that or ribbon later.

Happy crafting.

Mini scrapbook haul

After the gym I had a little time to kill before picking up dinner so I stopped at the little blue house to see what they had scrapbook wise. They have a small storefront as they mainly focus on classes. I did find some cute stuff.

I saw this and had to have it for stitching around my cards and pages.

The next items are cute baby pages I got mainly for my sister who just found out she is having triplets!!! I did get me a few of these pages too so I can make a mini album for my photos of the triplets so stay tuned for that.

These papers are from the baby mine collection. I don't know why my phone decided to take side pictures. Oh well y'all still can see the pages.

Happy scrapping.
